    My Japanese Learning Journey
    From student to instructor - a passion for Japanese language education

    Born and Raised in Hong Kong

    Born and raised in Hong Kong, I developed an early fascination with Japanese culture and language that would eventually shape my career path.

    Language Studies in Japan (2009)

    At the age of 19, I took the brave step of moving to Japan for language studies. I graduated from Inter-Cultural Institute of Japan in 2009, gaining not just language skills but deep cultural understanding that would prove invaluable in my teaching.

    Corporate Experience

    After returning to Hong Kong, I leveraged my Japanese skills to work for various companies over several years, gaining practical experience in business Japanese and cross-cultural communication.

    Founding My Business (February 2020)

    In February 2020, I founded my own business and currently work as an online Japanese instructor and language learning advisor. This platform, J-Island, represents my commitment to making Japanese learning accessible and engaging for students worldwide.

    Published Author (June 18, 2025)

    I published my first book in Japan on June 18, 2025.

    Overview: "Travel," "Learning," and "Food"

    Travel:Experiencing other countries firsthand. My first study abroad in Japan introduced unexpected cultural insights and serendipitous encounters, centered around daily life reminiscent of Korean dramas on Netflix, especially friendships formed with Korean classmates at a Japanese language school.
    Food:Tasting the cuisine of other countries. By savoring foods nurtured by the distinct climates and cultures of different regions, one gains knowledge about food and develops a deeper understanding and appreciation of others' culinary traditions.
    Learning:Engaging with foreign languages and cultures. Studying a foreign language builds connections and serves as a bridge between people. What becomes essential is understanding how the brain processes and retains memory - the brain functions like a vast storage facility.

    My Teaching Philosophy

    Having experienced the challenges of learning Japanese as a foreign language, I understand the struggles students face. My goal is to create innovative, engaging tools like J-Island's interactive flashcard system to make Japanese learning more effective and enjoyable.
